BTS
I’m back with another Voice Coach Reacts to BTS Boy With Luv! In honor of their sold out US and European tour, give it up for BTS! They are the hottest ticket in the WORLD right now, and for good reason!
I’ve been aware of BTS for a few years through dear friends who truly love them. I’ve watched my friends learn the intricate BTS dance moves, and learn them well! They’ve gotten on planes to travel to their concerts and even their home country of South Korea! They’ve gushed delightedly about how talented they are. Yet, beyond enjoying how enthralled my friends were by BTS, I had not given them much attention myself. That is until this week as I’ve worked on this video content for The Voice Love Co.’s YouTube channel. My personal takeaway? I’m stunned! They ARE absolutely GREAT!
Voice Coach Reacts To BTS
I don’t really know what I was expecting, but they charmed me just like they have charmed audiences around the world. With their U.S. and European tours selling out completely in just a couple of hours (!), I knew this would be a good week to heed the suggestion of my budding YouTube audience that I react to BTS. I decided to react to their SNL performance because it was live and I could actually hear them. Their music videos, while enchanting and so much fun, are too perfect, too clean. I really wanted to hear their voices without all of the studio engineering.
The SNL performance is just the right amount of being able to hear them and see them in action. To think they perform this hard for hours in a full-length concert is mind-boggling. Their energy level and ability to continue to sing while navigating their non-stop, aerobic dance moves is awe inspiring. An entire concert must be on par physically with a half marathon for these performers.
Vocal Help for BTS
While the performance got off to a rocky start, with what seemed to be the background vocalists carrying the first two solos, the audio mix got better and better as BTS danced harder and harder and continued to sing well.
For them to have three background vocalists (two men, one woman) singing is appropriate for the amount of physicality their performances require. It is impossible to keep a smooth sound when you are literally jumping up and down. The voice gets jostled when you move like that. You could see Jungkook and the other soloists (gah! I need to learn who these talented gentlemen in BTS are by name! Kindly educate me in the comments below, would you?) modify their dance moves while they had the solo. However, they were STILL dancing hard. With all of that happening, your background vocals PLUS any pre-recorded vocals you may have up your sleeve are necessary helpers! I would never fault them for using either!
How to Sing like BTS
These singers exhibit a tremendous amount of relaxation when they vocalize on stage, even while doing intricate choreography. Plus, they manage to remain relaxed all while holding on to their own styles and personalities. It really is quite winsome to watch. You just feel so good when you watch BTS, don’t you?
In this video I explain:
•How to strengthen your singing voice when you are supposed to dance your heart out at the same time.
•I note the vocal variety in their rapping that makes it sound interesting and makes you want to hear MORE!
•Why live performance and hearing the the REAL human voice is so precious! (yes, I am a geek about this stuff, ha!)
•How to connect the falsetto/head voice down through the ‘passaggio” into the mix voice when singing the melody line of the chorus of “Boy With Luv.” I demonstrate two different exercises that you can implement TODAY to help you transition from one register to the next with ease! EEEEEE!
Be sure to watch the video to learn these BTS singing secrets and MORE! BTS has some wonderful vocal qualities to emulate. Learn how to sing like them HERE!
Don’t miss my other Voice Coach Reacts videos in the series! Lara Fabian, Dimash and Sohyung to name just a few. I’m thoroughly enjoying these international artists! Hope you are too.
